Diabetes is usually a lifelong disease in which there is a high level of sugar in the blood. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas to control the blood sugar. Diabetes can be caused by shortage of insulin, resistance to insulin or both.
Types of Diabetes
Type 1 diabetes
It occurs at any stage of age, but it is most often found in children, teens, or young adults. In this type, the body can’t make insulin. Daily injections of insulin are needed for patients. The exact cause is unknown.
Type 2 diabetes
It is mostly common in adulthood but because of obesity rates teens and younger are now being diagnosed with it. Many people with type 2 do not know they have it.
Diabetes as per ayurveda is a kaphaj vyadhi. The kapha dosha is increased in body by having food like curd, milk and milk products, jaggery and its products, newly generated grains (within 1 year) and lazy life style.
1. Burning sensations over palm and sole.
2. Excess thirst, hunger.
3. Often urination
4. Weight loss.
5. Sweetness of mouth.
6. Increased excretory material of eyes, ears, etc.
Proper diet plan with exercises and Pranayam with Yogasanas.
Medicine like shilajit, rasoushadhi and most of churna combinations and decoctions are used which improve the urinary system and also reduces the level of sugar in the blood.
In this, vamana is the 1st treatment, later mrudu virechana and basti are also effective. This helps to rejuvenate the body and urinary system.
This also helps to prevent the further complications of diabetes.
